Tournesol Siteworks

Brand Design
Art Direction

Starting in 2020, I assisted Tournesol Siteworks in the beginnings of a re-brand. Working under the Head of Design, I helped give their brand a more premium, polished look & feel more representative of a design partner instead of just a pots and planters vendor.

During the pandemic, their secondary goal was to transfer their marketing focus from print to digital media. I analyzed their previous marketing materials and developed solutions for Tournesol to reach their audience through digital marketing platforms.

Tournesol Brand Guidelines Selected Pages

Pages have been removed that contained personal or sensitive content.

I worked with direction from the Head of Marketing to construct a comprehensive brand guideline package as we defined what the new brand looked like. I created a new typography system, and icon system, as well as new graphic elements to support the new brand direction.

Tournesol Customworks Logo

Before

The design of the original logo was dated and had optical issues, especially in small sizes. It needed an update to keep up with the new brand design that we were in the process of defining.

After

After a few design iterations, I finalized the new logo that kept the organic feel of the 'custom' logomark while being much more readable in various situations.

Here are a few of my initial sketches when exploring how to simplify the logomark while still trying to retain the organic, handmade feel of the original mark.

Pots and Planters 2021 Look-book

Sample pages from the Pots and Planters 2021 Look-book

For Tournesol's first digital product, I designed an interactive look-book for their 2021 line of pots and planters. The design emulated editorial publications that would commonly come from high-end interior and architectural design firms. This was the first look-book I designed for Tournesol of many, that helped shift the brand from an industrial retailer to more of a high-value design partner. The design included clickable links to each product webpage where the reader could learn more information about each product.
